Bay length is the mistake that cannot be fixed later
A cricket pitch measures 22 yards, or 20.12 m, from wicket to wicket. A practice bay built to that length gives a bowler nowhere to run up from.
A usable bay needs the pitch length plus a genuine run-up, which for pace bowling means a substantial additional distance behind the stumps, plus space beyond the batting end. Bays built short get used for throwdowns and little else, and no amount of netting quality compensates. Confirm the total lane length in the quote, not just the pitch length.
Netting grade, in plain terms
Netting is where the difference between a three-year installation and a ten-year one sits. The variables are material, twine thickness, mesh aperture and whether it is UV stabilised. Outdoor nets in Indian sun without UV treatment degrade noticeably faster, and the failure shows up as brittleness and tearing at the fixing points rather than in the middle of the panel.
Ask for the grade in writing. A quote that names a material and a twine specification can be compared. One that says "heavy duty netting" cannot.

Fixed or retractable
Retractable nets let a space serve more than one use, which matters on campuses where the same area hosts other activity. They cost more and introduce a mechanism that needs maintenance. Fixed nets are simpler, cheaper and more durable, and they commit the space permanently. The decision should follow from how the area is actually scheduled rather than from the price difference.
Indoor nets have different constraints
Indoor installations trade weather exposure for height and impact constraints. Ceiling height governs whether a bowler can deliver naturally, and surrounding surfaces need protection from mishit balls. Lighting has to be positioned and guarded so fittings are not struck. These are solvable, but they are design decisions rather than afterthoughts, and they change the quote.
Lighting
If the nets will be used after work, which on a corporate campus is the main window, floodlighting belongs in the original scope. Adding poles and cabling after the surface is laid costs more and usually means disturbing work already completed. Fittings also need positioning so bowlers and batters are not looking into glare.
How to compare two quotes
Ask each supplier for the same five lines, with netting grade, frame section and galvanising, total lane length including run-up, base preparation, and lighting either included or explicitly excluded. Quotes that look far apart usually converge once itemised, and the gap that remains identifies exactly what one of them left out.
