FAQ

Common questions

Telescopic rods are not optional in a corporate environment, sportsOS will only supply telescopic-rod tables for any commercial or corporate setting. Here is why the distinction matters: a non-telescopic or through-rod table has rods that extend several centimetres beyond the cabinet on one side whenever a player pushes them in the opposite direction. Anyone walking past the exposed end at that moment (a colleague carrying a coffee, someone passing the games room) can be struck with significant force in the chest, face, or arm. This is a documented injury risk in institutional settings. Telescopic rods retract fully into the cabinet on both sides regardless of rod position, eliminating the hazard completely. Most consumer-grade tables sold online are non-telescopic. This is one of the clearest differences between a correctly specified corporate games room installation and a table purchased without professional guidance. Every table in the sportsOS range features telescopic rods as a non-negotiable standard specification.

A standard foosball table has a cabinet footprint of approximately 145 × 77 cm, significantly smaller than a pool table or ping pong table, making it one of the most space-efficient games room installations available. However, the critical clearance zone is on the short ends: players need to pull the rods fully toward them during play, requiring at least 90 cm of clear space on each short end. This gives a minimum playing area of approximately 145 × 255 cm per table. For a two-table installation placed side by side, allow 120 cm between the adjacent long sides, this provides comfortable spectator and waiting-player space without creating a crowded environment where people obstruct active play. Corner placement works well: positioning two tables in an L-shape uses wall space efficiently and naturally creates a spectator zone on the open sides. Power is not required, foosball tables are fully mechanical with no electrical components.

Foosball table durability under corporate conditions depends significantly on the grade of table specified. A quality MDF-cabinet table with standard chrome steel rods handles four to six hours of daily play reliably and is suitable for campuses where the table will see moderate use during breaks but not continuous occupation throughout the day. Competition-grade tables are built to a substantially higher specification: solid beech or ash wood cabinets, precision ground solid steel rods running in sealed or lubricated bearings, and higher-specification player figures with improved ball contact geometry. These tables are designed for eight or more hours of daily intensive play without developing play-affecting wear in the rod bearings or cabinet seams. The first wear points on any foosball table are the rod bearings and the cabinet corner joints, both manageable with preventive maintenance. Monthly silicone-only lubrication of the rods (never oil-based lubricant, which attracts grit and degrades bearings faster) significantly extends bearing life. sportsOS recommends competition grade for campuses of 200 or more employees.

Yes, sportsOS offers full custom branding for foosball tables, and it is one of the most popular requests we receive for new office launches and campus events. The most common approach is a high-resolution vinyl side panel wrap applied to the long sides and end panels of the cabinet, printed with your company logo, brand colours, and any graphic design you specify. The wrap is applied to a prepared surface and is designed to last the life of the table without peeling or discolouring under normal indoor conditions. We can also colour-match the player figures to your brand colours and supply a custom-branded ball set. Lead time for custom-branded tables is two to three weeks from artwork approval to delivery, so plan accordingly if you need tables for a specific launch date. Custom branding is popular for three scenarios: new campus or office openings, internal sports tournaments where the games room is photographed for company communications, and corporate gifting of branded tables to key clients or partner campuses.

Yes, sportsOS maintains a parts inventory for every table model we supply, and after-installation service is a core part of our offering. Common replacement parts (balls, rods, rod bearings, player figures, and goalkeepers) are stocked and can be dispatched within 48 to 72 hours of a service request. Figures and rods are the highest-wear items: player figures develop cracks at the feet over time with intensive play, and rod seals deteriorate if the table is incorrectly lubricated with oil-based products instead of silicone. Annual preventive servicing (rod lubrication with correct silicone lubricant, bearing inspection, cabinet level check, and figure audit) can be added to your sportsOS service level agreement as a scheduled visit. This keeps the table in optimal playing condition and prevents minor wear from becoming significant mechanical issues. For campuses with multiple tables, we batch the annual service into a single visit to minimise disruption. All replacement parts supplied carry a six-month warranty.
